Southern Sky Models SKYWATCH Newsletter, 26th June

Gday Modellers,
Thank you for you patience in awaiting a long planned newsletter from Southern Sky Models. Its probably been well over a year since I first said to some of you that I must get this newsletter happening.! For all the wait, its probably not the greatest piece of modelling verse, but I'm sure it will improve in content and format in time.

My aim is to present new Kits, Conversions/Detail Sets, Decals and Die Cast models with a strong bias towards Australian themed items. Special Offers will also be made to Skywatch subscribers. Not everything new onto the modelling market will make it into my newsletter, so if you are after something specific made by any of the manufacturers we stock, please ask. (Full list of manufacturers provided at the end of this newsletter.) I'll also mention any significant re-issues or re-stocked items of Australian interest or other popular items.

My Web
Regular browsers of our web who have also been intothe ' rea' l shop will know our web is no-where near indicative of the range of modelling products we stock. Southern Sky Models is a specialist hobby shop,  however we do stock a wide range of kits. While the web may not be on the scale of some international hobby shops, it should give you an idea of the direction we are heading.
( ed... Actually, credit where it is due, it is my brother who is doing what he can in his spare time to assist in effecting the web changes! Thanks Bro!)

We hope to effect a full revamp of the website sometime in 2009!

Ebay
We list a lot of wares on eBay under the user name sthn-sky. It is much easier, quicker and more flexible for us to pop items on eBay than it is to update a web. You are of course welcome to buy on eBay from us, but be aware…eBay price is final irrespective of the price of an item in the shop. eBay is a very expensive sales medium to use and we often have a margin added onto the eBay price to account for the hefty fees they charge sellers. (If you are new to eBay, it is a completely free service to use for buyers…other than paying for your purchases of course! .) We also use eBay to sell clients unwanted models, old sought after rarities and to clear shop stock that we wish to move quickly so we can re-stock with new items. In other words, you can also often find some great bargains from us on eBay.

1/72 Cessna 180 by Kheekha Vacform Models + Southern Sky Models Australian Army Decals
Early 2009 brought the Silver Wings Southampton and Karaya Seagull III resin kits, but the year continues to improve with this latest long sought after 1/72 kit that should interest Aussie Modellers. Please refer to the attached pictures. The model is a Vacform kit with resin nose, prop, instrument panel. It includes a curved vac windscreen and flat clear sheet is supplied for the cabin windows. Optional tail fin and props allow finishing the kit as a later C.185. Comprehensive instructions are included. It is recommendef to scratch build you own landing gear struts from aluminium can metal or similar. No kit decals provided. We will be including a decal with Australian Army options from the southern sky Models decal decal range. (A 1/72 TAA Cessna 185 decal is planned currently only available in 1/41 to suit the Monogram kit)

• Welsh Models 1/72 Boeing 737-700/800 Virgin Blue kit and decal combo
• Huge range of Underworld Decals for Vickers Viscount 700/800 in 1/144, 1/96 and 1/72 for TAA, Ansett-ANA, Butler, MMA and RAAF. Will have more info in the next Skywatch.
• I have plenty of Glencoe 1/96 Viscount 700 kits in stock at $22.95. Please note that Glencoe no longer include transparencies. The instructions ask you to use clear parts cement and window maker such as offered by Testors. I will be offering discount combinations of Glencoe kit and decals (and Testors window maker if required)
• For 1/144, Welsh Models vacforms or the S&M injected Viscount 800 are recommended.
• We stock the Welsh Models vacs, but havent been able to stock the SM kits yet.
• For 1/72, the only option is the Mach 2 Viscount 700. It may be some time before I can get re-stock of this kit. I have very limited stocks of the Hamilton Hobbies Viscount 800 conversion set.
