1/72 scale injected plastic construction model kit.
This experimental aircraft was essentially two Bf 109F airframes joined together by means of a new wing centre section and new tailplane, both of constant chord. The USAF F-82 Twin Mustang was a successful design using the same concept.
The Bf 109Z-1 day fighter starboard fuselage cockpit was faired over and the pilot flew the aircraft from the port side fuselage.
The subject of this kit is the Bf 109Z-2 (proposed) night fighter It was fitted with the starboard side cockpit manned by a RADAR operator to support the pilot in the port side.
Only one Bf 109Z was built but was never flown as it was damaged during an Allied bombing raid in 1943. The project was permanently abandoned in 1944
