1/72 scale RESIN construction model kit suitable for experienced modellers.
Attack Bomber prototype designed by Australian aircraft manufacturer CAC early during the Second World War for service with the Royal Australian Air Force. The Wackett Bomber was the prototype to the CA-11 WOOMERA.
Events overtook the requirement for the Woomera as supply of types such as the Beaufighter, Boston and Mitchell fulfilled the attack bomber role.
EXCLUSIVE to Southern Sky Models.
The Kit:
Resin construction with vacuform transparencies (two sets).
The kit represents a late configuration of the CA-4 with final style engine nacelles, turrets, curved windscreen for the bomb airmer's transparency and wing trailing edge fillets.
To model the aircraft in its final configuration, the modeller will need to add fixed leading edge slats. The slats are NOT provided in this kit. (They are the same slats as were used on the Woomera.)
Includes Decals by DEKL'S. Laser Print Markings on constant carrier film are provided for CA-4 A23-1001 in early WWWII RAF style roundels as seen during most of its service and an option for RAAF Blue/White roundels before the aircraft crashed.
This is not a kit for beginners! (It's NOT an Airfix kit!)
Modelling experience Required.
The single piece Wing Centre section carrying through the lower fuselage will add strength to final model and a good base for the landing gear.
* The area of the Wing Centre section where the nacelle halves fit is thin. HANDLE WITH CARE. Once the nacelles are fixed to the wing, the centre section will become strong. I recommend fitting the nacelles before the wing centre section is fixed to the fusleage.
* If modelling with gear down, locating/fitting the landing gear will be a test!
* Landing gear legs are steel pin reinforced.
Instructions are very simplified 'exploded' view and cover the assembly process adequately.
You will need to refer to plenty of pictures and make your own adjustments to parts.
The CAC Woomera Friends Facebook site is very good reference. One of the posts has 66 images!

Some sources confuse the CA-4 and CA-11. Be wary as the CA-4 went through several configuration changes. Not easy to identify until you spend a little time absorbing the differences.
The Early CA-4 configuration had a squared off 'boxy' bomb aimer's transparency, different nacelles/exhausts, domed gun turrets, no fillets to the wing trailing edge and a pitot mounted under the nose rather than on the starboard wing. Parts for the early configuration are NOT included.
The turret sighting optics (the curved wedge shaped things aside the rear of the cockpit transparency) went through several changes. The system is a story of its own that will not attempted to be covered here. The kit provided clear vac transparencies are very simplified and will require some fettling and adjustment.
Recommended for Ages: 16+
Requires assembly. Paint and glue are not included. Constructing resin scale models requires understanding of and adherence to relevant personal safety practices. There is plenty of information available on the web regarding working with resin models.
This product is not a toy. Contains small parts that may be a choking hazard. Keep away from children aged under 3 years.
